Case Study: Dycem
We speak with our clients, Dycem, about how they have managed to work remotely during COVID-19…
Who are you?
My name is Andy Jones and I am the Operations Director.
Introduce your organisation
The company I work for is Dycem Limited, we are based in Bristol. We’ve been producing aids for daily living and non-slip flooring systems since 1966, all of our manufacturing is in United Kingdom and our coverage is worldwide.
How has COVID-19 affected your organisation?
We’ve furloughed approximately 50% of our staff since the 1st of April, the business is still continuing because we have quite a strong niche market. It could be better, it could be worse, but we are quite a positive company and we are just battling along every day.
Have you struggled with working remotely?
We presently only have two members of the team working remotely and they’re in constant contact with the office staff here. We’ve given them all the requirements for IT, so they’ve been working quite comfortably at the moment.
How have Complete I.T. helped you during this time?
They’ve had quite an integral part of the infrastructure during the current time due to setting up people to work from home. Also looking at licences with regards to actually stopping Office 365 licenses, dealing with issues quite promptly and quickly as well. I would say they have been an integral part of the business during this point in time.
What do you think your workplace of the future will look like?
I think we’re going to potentially have more people working from home on a long-term basis. If we do bring staff back, we could end up with separation via plastic screens etc.
At the moment, we have one-way systems, demarcation areas, sanitation stations in place and we have a greater awareness of the environment that we work in and everything that’s happening in the world at the moment.
Can you describe your relationship with CIT in three words?
Reliable, Community, Understanding.
