Security is one of the top priorities for us here at Complete I.T. and we endeavour to make our clients as secure as possible.
With this in mind, a bug in Microsoft Windows was identified recently that has the potential to have a devastating impact should attackers begin to exploit it. The bug has been named ‘BlueKeep’ and it allows an attacker to run software on your device from anywhere in the world – and more worryingly they don’t even need to enter a username and password to do so.
Because of the seriousness of BlueKeep, it has been classified by the leading global cyber security agencies with a score of 9.8/10 – with 10 being the most critical. To give some context to this, the exploit behind the 2017 outbreak of WannaCry was scored a 9.3.
Hopefully you recognise how critical we feel this is and how important it is that your devices are secured as soon as possible.
Microsoft have provided patches for all versions of Windows that are affected, and due to the seriousness of the bug they have even provided patches for Windows XP, Server 2003 and Windows Vista which they no longer support.
For those of you who subscribe to our Complete Endpoint Security service, we are hard at work at ensuring your devices are secured, and if you have opted out of our Managed Patching option we will be in touch to inform you of any machines that have not yet received the patch.
If you have any questions regarding the above then please do get in touch with your Complete I.T. Technical Consultant.
